Jan 1     Bess and I went over home this morning. I went to church with the folks in the hack. George Baker's folks came home with them. Spent the afternoon there. Fair cool day.

Jan 2     I hauled in load of fodder from James Bottom this morning. Hauled out load of manure. This evening hauled 2 loads of corn into hog house and made a coupling pole in the old wagon. Fair cool day.

Jan 3     It rained all night and forenoon today. Father and I went to town this evening. Took 24 chickens to town and fetched out load of brand. The creek is out of bank tonight. Dick brought the cattle out of the stock field this evening.

Jan 4     Nothing but repairing and choreing done today. Wet cool cloudy day.

Jan 5     Nothing much done today. Dick Gibbs went hunting this evening, killed 4 rabbits. Fair cool day.

Jan 6     Nothing done today. Fair cool day.

Jan 7     I went to Corners to church this morning. Home this evening. Emmie Euler and family, Ed Stewart and wife and Paw & Maw was here today. Cool cloudy day.

Jan 8     Last night fell a good snow and still snowed til noon today. Snow is about 6 inches deep. Clear cold tonight. Nothing done today.

Jan 9     Bess and I went to town in the little red sled today. Fair cold day.

Jan 10     Nothing but chores done today. Fair warm day. The snow melted fast today. Dick, Bess and I went over to Emmie's tonight. She gave a little party for the young folks.

Jan 11     I cleaned the stables this morning. Helped Otto Hess kill a beef this evening. Cloudy rainy and snowy day.

Jan 12     Nothing done today. Cool cloudy day.

Jan 13     Nothing done today. I went over home this evening and got 3 bushels of oats for feed. Cool wet cloudy day.

Jan 14     Bess and I went to town today. I went to church and spent the day at Joe Stewart's. Cool and cloudy day. The snow nearly all melted today.

Jan 15     Nothing done today. This has been a very cloudy storm day. Some rain and hail. The wind is still blowing hard tonight.

Jan 16     Dick and I went over to Paws and went hunting. Killed 7 rabbits. Came home and found Daisy mare sick. Called the veterinarian and he called it spinal meningitis. Charged $3. Cold cloudy day.

Jan 17     I went to town this morning after medicine for Daisy. Home this evening. Dick and I took Mother over to Lawrence's tonight. William is bad sick. Cool cloudy day.

Jan 18     I went to town after medicine for Paul this evening. He is sick. Fair cool day.

Jan 19     I cleaned the stables and hauled into the potato patch this morning. Put new handle into it and ground 2 acre getting ready to saw wood next week. Cool cloudy day. Tonight the boys shivareed Will Glixner, he has been married about two weeks.

Jan 20     This morning I prepared the mail box. We are to have a mail route, the first of February. Doing some repairing around the barn and sheds. Fair warm day.

Jan 21     I went to N. Vernon church this morning. Home this evening. Warm cloudy, windy day.

Jan 22     I was repairing the stable today. Made a fat stall for Kate. Warm cloudy day.

Jan 23     Dick and I began to saw wood today. Cold cloudy day.

Jan 24     Dick, Bess and I went over to help Emmie butcher this morning. Dick and I sawed wood this evening. Fair cool day.

Jan 25     Father and I went to town today, took up chickens and got load of bran. Cool cloudy day. Bess and I went back to town tonight to a play at the Opera House.

Jan 26     I hauled manure this morning. Dick and I sawed wood this evening. Cool cloudy day.

Jan 27     Dick and I sawed wood this morning. Hauled 3 loads of corn into hog house this evening. Fair warm day

Jan 28     I went to Corners to church this morning. Bess and I went over home this evening. Paw and I hitched up his black mule for the first time. He is 2 years old. Fair cool day.

Jan 29     Dick and I sawed wood today. Cool and cloudy day.

Jan 30     Dick and I sawed wood today. Damp cloudy cool day.

Jan 31     Dick and I finished sawing wood this morning. Hauling home the blocks now, will split it at home. Fair cool day. This has been a nice month, not very cold. The cattle are still on stock pasture.

Feb 1     I finished hauling wood today. Sade and Minnie were out today. We all went up to Samuel Young's tonight. They gave a birthday surprise on Sam. He is 46 years old. Cold cloudy day. Today the U.S. mail wagon made its first trip through the neighborhood. Free mail delivery. No. 7.

Feb 2     I hauled manure on wheat field today. Cold windy cloudy day.

Feb 3     I hauled manure this morning. Split wood this evening. Fair cold day.

Feb 4     I went to Corners to church this morning. Willie Bertram came home with me for dinner. Home this evening. Cool cloudy day. It is snowing tonight.

Feb 5     Bess and I went to Mrs. Baker's funeral this morning. 82 years old. Hauled in load of hay from stacks this evening. Fair cold day.

Feb 6     Very cold day. Last night was the coldest night this winter. I split some wood today. Bess and Cousin Hiram Spencer came here today.

Feb 7     I split wood this morning. Hiram Spencer and I went to town his evening. Protracted meeting began last night over at Zion. Fair cold day.

Feb 8     I split wood today. R. J. Nickelson was here today. Bess and I went to church tonight. Fair cold day.

Feb 9     I finished splitting wood today. We all went to church in big wagon tonight. Fair cold day.

Feb 10     Nothing done today. Bess and I went to town this evening. Fair cold day.

Feb 11     Bess and I were home this morning. We went over home this evening. Lena came home with us. We all went to church this night. Fair warm day.

Feb 12     The hay balers began to bale hay this morning. I hauled in baled hay today. Fair warm day.

Feb 13     Dick and I hauled in baled hay today. We got done this evening. Cloudy warm damp day.

Feb 14     Nothing done today. Cold cloudy. The preacher was here last night and today. Tonight Preacher Nickelson and Danken stays at Emmie's. We went to church in wagon.

Feb 15     I hauled manure this morning. Done some choreing round the barn this evening. Protracted Meeting closed tonight. Fair cold day.

Feb 16     Nothing done this morning. I hauled one load of baled hay in barn for Eddie this evening. Hauled manure the rest of evening. Fair cold day.

Feb 17     Dick and Granie went up to Joe's today. I crushed corn for cattle feed today. Cool cloudy day.

Feb 18     I went to church this morning. Bess and I went driving this evening. Were over home little while this evening. Snowed little last night. Fair warm day. The roads are bad this evening.

Feb 19     Father and I hauled load of hay and load corn fodder from Eddie's place this morning. Doing some repairing around the hog house this evening. Fair warm day. Feb 20     Bess and I took a calf to town today. Cloudy warm day.

Feb 21     I went to Fill(Phil) Gaghan's funeral at N. Vernon this morning. Done some repairing around the barn yard fences this evening. Cloudy forenoon. Fair this evening. Feb 22     Building a new grape arbor today. I went to Ray Marsh's ceremony tonight. He was married to Inez Bland yesterday. Fair warm day.

Feb 23     I put up the grape arbor today. Fair warm day.

Feb 24     Dick and I took the wire off the fence where the cattle ran on stocks. Hauled home some poplar poles for horse to bark. Got in some green hickory to smoke meat. Hung up the meat to smoke. Hauled in the posts and wire from stock pasture today. Fair and warm day. Had some rain and hail tonight.

Feb 25     Bess and I went to church this morning. Went George Baker's for dinner. Hiram Spencer is here tonight. Fair cool day.

Feb 26     Nothing done today. Cool cloudy day. Began to snow about 4 o'clock and still snows at bedtime. Hiram Spencer left for Arkansas tonight.

Feb 27     Nothing done today. Eddie and Annie spent the day here. Fair cold day. Last night fell about 4 inches of snow.

Feb 28     Ash Wednesday today. I sold my red heifer calf to Eddie this morning for $25.00. I went to town to try to sell my bay colt this evening but did not sell her. Fair cold day.

Mar 1     I was over home today. I went to Hayden to see about the Kendrick Farm to rent it. Fair warm day.

Mar 2     Albert and I went over north of Hayden to look at the Kendrick's Farm. Began to rain about 11 o'clock. Raining yet tonight. Bessie's father gave her, her equal of $1500 with Joe, Emmie, Eddie and Lawrence today. Also paid me $30 for red sow and pigs.

Mar 3     I went to town today. Fair and cold day.

Mar 4     We were at home today. Cold cloudy day.

Mar 5     I hired to Father for another year this morning for $300.30. Dick and I hauled up load of fodder and load of old hay from Eddie's place this morning. This evening we cut down some old apple trees in the orchard. Cool cloudy day.

Mar 6     Dick and I sawed wood and split it, piled brush and burned them in the apple orchard. Fair warm day.

Mar 7     Rained all forenoon. I finished splitting wood in the apple orchard this evening.

Mar 8     I repaired the cattle mangers in the back stable this morning. Hauled wood into the wood house with the wheelbarrow and ricked it up. Warm cloudy day.

Mar 9     I repaired the garden fence this morning. I piled wood in the wood house this evening. Albert spent the day here. Fair cool day.

Mar 10     I hauled some gravel in barnyard this morning. Cleaned the stables this evening. Joe and Sade came out tonight. They rode out with Eddie. Fair cool day.

Mar 11     Bess and I went to Zion Church this morning. Joe and Sade, Bess and I and Dick went up to Eddie's this evening. Cloudy rainy and some snow today.

Mar 12     Nothing done this morning. Bess and I took Joe and Sade home this evening. Cold cloudy day.

Mar 13     I made a new wagon doubletree today. Snowed last night. Rained and sleeted all day today.

Mar 14     Nothing done today. Cold cloudy icy day.

Mar 15     I hauled manure out of the stables this evening. Cloudy cold and slick day.

Mar 16     Nothing done today. Willie came over this evening. Cold cloudy day.

Mar 17     Dick and I went to town today. Took up 26 hens, they are worth 10 cents a pound.

Mar 18     Fair cool day. Bess and I went over home today. Dick went along. Fair cold day.

Mar 19     Nothing done today. This is a bad day, it rained and sleeted last night. Snowed all day today and still snowing. Tonight.

Mar 20     Nothing done today. Fair cold day. The snow melted some today.

Mar 21     Dick and I ground feed for cattle this morning. Done some choreing in barn this evening. The snow all melted today. Fair and warm day. The road are very bad now.

Mar 22     I hauled 2 loads of manure out this morning and 2 loads of corn into hog house. Done some chores this evening. Fair cool day.

Mar 23     Father and I took cage of hens to town today. Brought home some bran and bookcase. I sent and got off Sears Roebuck and Co. Cool cloudy day.

Mar 24     Nothing done today. Snowed last night and all forenoon. Snow is about 6 inches deep. Dick and I took Mother over to Emmie's this morning. Grace is sick with pneumonia fever.

Mar 25     I went to church this morning. Bess and I went over to Emmie's to see Grace. She is some better. Fair warmer this eveing. The snow all melted today.

Mar 26     Today is my 27th birthday. I finished shelling seed corn today. It is raining about all day. The creek is bank full now.

Mar 27     Nothing done today. Cloudy cold day. The creek is out in the bottom today.

Mar 28     I took load of baled hay to town today. Cool cloudy day.

Mar 29     I took load of hay to town today. It began to rain at 10 o'clock. Rained all day.

Mar 30     Nothing done today. Rained all day. The creek is all over the bottoms tonight.

Apr 11     Father and I gathered up the brush in the orchard and burned them this morning. We repaired rail fence this evening. Fair warm day.

May 1     I began to plow for corn today in the Betsy Bottom. Warm cloudy day.

May 2     Brother Willie is plowing for me today. I hauled manure this morning. This evening I took Kate and Daisy and Emmie's topsil(?) mare to Baker's. Jack stayed all night. Cool cloudy day.

May 3     Willie is plowing for me today. I came home from Baker's this morning. I hauled manure this evening. Fair cool day.

May 11     I began to plant corn today. Planted the Betsy Bottom, 12 acres. The County surveyor did some work here today. Cloudy warm today.

May 12     I finished plowing and harrowing the upper end of Long Bottom this morning. I took load of baled hay to town this evening. Fair warm day.

May 13     We all went to Zion Church this morning and tonight. Bess and I went over home this evening awhile. Fair warm day.

May 16     I began to plow in the Sullivan bottom today. Dragging the ground as fast as I plow it. Fair warm day.

May 19     I plowed in Sullivan Bottom this morning. I planted 7 acres in said bottom this evening. Henry Burgmeyer harrowed ahead of drill for me this evening. Had a good rain last night. Fair cool day.

May 22     This morning we took away 4 loads of hogs, 29 head. This evening I plowed. Fair warm day.

May 23     I plowed today. Hot and cloudy. Little sprinkle of rain this evening.

May 24     I plowed and dragged for corn today. Fair warm day.

May 25     I finished plowing this morning in Sullivan Bottoms. All done plowing now. This evening I harrowed and planted. Warm cloudy day.

May 27     Bess and I went to Sunday School this morning. Home this evening. Had a nice little rain this evening.

May 29     I took cripple mare to Baker's this morning and left her. This evening I plowed for Henry Burgmeyer. Fair cool day.

May 30     I plowed for Henry Burgmeyer this morning. Took load of hay to town this evening. Fair warm day.

May 31     I bag to plow corn for the first time this morning. Had a show of rain too. I ground corn for feed this evening. Warm cloudy day.

Jun 1     I plowed corn in Betsy Bottom this morning. I took load of corn to town this evening. Joe Stewart and Oscar Boner went home this evening. They have been fishing a few days. Warm cloudy day.

Jun 2     I plowed and rolled corn today. The folks went over to the cemetery at on Six Mile to clean off the graves. Fair and warm day.

Jun 3     Bess and I went to St. Mary's Church this morning. The children went to communion. Came home, ate dinner, then went to Baker's this afternoon. Fair hot day.

Jun 4     I plowed corn this morning. Took load of hay to town this evening. Hot day. Had a good rain about 6 o'clock this evening. It is raining now. 8:30 evening.

Jun 5     Father and I trimmed hedge fence this morning. Had a hard rain at noon today. I picked cherries this evening.

Jun 6     I took load of my corn to town this morning. Brought home a new Brown cultivator…don't like it very well. I plowed the bean patch and potatoes with it this evening. Fair hot day.

Jun 7     I plowed corn with my new plow today but don't like it. Fair hot day.

Jun 8     I plowed corn in Long Bottom today. I sent my Brown cultivator back to town this morning. Fair hot day.

Jun 9     I plowed corn this morning. Bess and I took load of corn to town this evening. Fair hot day.

Jun 10     We all went to Zion Church this morning and tonight. This is Children's Day. Bess and I were over home this evening awhile. Fair warm day.

Jun 15     I finished rolling corn this morning and harrowed the corn this evening. It is all plowed over the first time. Cool cloudy, little showers.

Jun 16     I repaired the binder and mowing machine this morning. Took what old wheat had left to town this evening. Fair warm day.

Jun 17     Bess and I went to Corners to church this morning. Went over home for dinner. Fair warm day.

Jun 18     We began to cut wheat today. Cut the Long Bottom. William Boner helped shock it. Fair warm day.

Jun 19     I plowed corn for the second time today. At 2 o'clock p.m. had a hard rain. Born to Eddie and Annie(?) a boy baby this morning at 11 o'clock.

Jun 20     I cut William Bonner wheat today and plowed some corn. Cool cloudy day.

Jun 21     I plowed corn today. Bess and I sit up with Eddie's baby tonight. It is sick. Fair warm day.

Jun 22     I plowed corn this morning. Took up load clover hay, then cut wheat this evening. Fair warm day.

Jun 23     I cut wheat this morning. Nick Keller done the shocking. Had a little rain at noon. I plowed corn this evening. Damp cloudy day. Bess is taking care of Eddie's baby tonight. It is getting better.

Jun 24     I went to Corners to church this morning. Bess and I went over home this evening. Hot cloudy day.

Jun 25     I finished cutting wheat at 8 a.m. Nick Keller helped finish, then hoed weeds til noon. I plowed corn the remainder of the day. Hot cloudy day.

Jun 26     I finished plowing corn for the second time today. Cut some clover late this evening. Fair hot day.

Jun 27     Nick Keller helped drive 3 head of cattle to town this morning. I finished cutting clover this evening. Fair hot day.

Jun 28     I began to plow the corn in the Betsy Bottom for the 3 and last time. William Boner helped me put up clover hay this evening. Fair hot day.

Jun 29     I laid by corn in Betsy Bottom today. Nick Keller hoed weeds this morning. Nick and William Boner finished the clover hay this evening, then hoed weeds til night. Fair hot day.

Jun 30     I finished laying by corn in Betsy Bottom and also in Long Bottom today. Nick Keller is helping Charles Cammel thrashed for me toay. Fair hot day. Bess and I took Paul to the doctor tonight. He has got some fever.

Jul 1     Ed Thicksten children are here. I took them to Sunday School this morning. Home this evening. Fair hot day.

Jul 2     I helped James Marsh thrash today. Fair hot day.

Jul 3     We finished thrashing James Marsh's this morning and began at Charles Woodard. Had a good rain at 2 p.m. Nothing done after the rain.

Jul 4     Father and I hoed weeds out of corn this morning. This evening helped Charles Woodard thrash and started at Emmie's late this evening. Fair cool day.

Jul 5     This morning helped Emmie thrash then I plowed corn while they thrashed Vester Imley and then I helped thrash Lawrence Stewart this evening. Warm day, little sprinkle rain this evening.

Jul 6     I am sick today, not able to work. Bess went to town to get medicine for me this evening. Had a good rain at dark today.

Jul 7     I am still sick. I had the doctor this evening. Walter Boner is plowing corn for me this morning. Father is plowing this evening. Fair warm day.

Jul 8     I am still sick. Sit up some this evening. Sade and Minnie were out today. Paw and Maw and Albert were over this evening. Fair warm day.

Jul 9     Willie Bertram is working for me today. Hoeing weeds this morning and plowing corn this evening. Fair warm day.

Jul 10     Willie Bertram finished laying by corn for me this morning. All done now. Father and I took 2 cows and calves and the bull to Lovett this morning. Willie helped Sam Young thrash this evening. Fair hot day.

Jul 11     Father and Willie helped Gaughen and Boner thrash this morning. Started at our house after dinner and had a good rain at 2 p.m. to stop the thrashing. I went to town this morning after some beef and bread for thrashers.

Jul 12     We ground and shelled corn this morning and finished thrashing this evening. Also thrashed Henry Burgmeyer this evening. We had 3.50bu wheat. Fair hot day.

Jul 13     Today we thrashed Otto Hess and Eddie Stewart and part of Elmer Sheppard's. Cloudy and some rain in streaks.

Jul 14     I ground the sickles to begin to cut hay next week. This evening I took load of wheat to town for Eddie. Warm cloudy day.

Jul 15     Bess and I were home all day. Bess is about sick. Fair hot day.

Jul 16     Had a good rain this morning. We took 2 loads corn to town this evening. Rainy warm cloudy day.

Jul 17     I hauled 2 loads of corn to mill today. Fair cool day.

Jul 18     I began to cut hay today. Cut all day. Nick Keller and Frank Hess took up 5 loads hay this evening. Fair cool day.

Jul 19     Father and Nick K. trimmed hedge awhile this morning. I cut grass. We took up 2 loads hay before dinner and took up 4 loads this evening. Fair hot day. James Thicksen and sisters left for their home in Arkansas. Bess took them to town this morning.

Jul 20     I finished cutting grass this morning. Nick Keller and I started to take up hay after dinner. Got in one load when it started to rain about 4 o'clock. Took up another load then come a hard rain, so there is one load out yet. Nick went home tonight.

Jul 21     Bess and I went to town one load of corn this morning. I finished trimming hedge and picked some blackberries this evening. Hot cloudy day.

Jul 22     I went to Corners to church this morning. Home this evening. Had some rain this morning. Fair hot this evening.
